What a great weekend, after two years wet weather we even persuaded the sky to match the colour of our celebration. The event kicked off on Friday afternoon with a Cider Tasting. 70 members enjoyed a presentation of four differing types of cider designed to stimulate the palate for food. After dinner Irish folk band Shebeen got the weekend off to a lively foot tapping start.
The main competition on Saturday morning attracted a few short of 1700 entries of wine cookery and art. With winners of each of the 66 classes taking magnificent trophies home to keep for the year.
The dinner on Saturday evening was followed by an evening of dancing entertainmnet and cabaret. Plus a special Casino Royal feature where guests could try their hand at the tables playing roulette and blackjack. Millions changed hands but we hasten to add that it wasn't real money!
Sunday was almost as busy with the presentation of trophies in the morning, some time to enjoy the Keith Box Jazzband around lunchtime. Followed by a wine tasting provided by John Durston of Newbridge Fine wines and Alun Cox of the West of England Wine & Spirits Association. In the evening a pre Gala dinner glass of champagne and an opportunity to share our Anniverary with 5 couples also celebrating their 45th. Plus entertainment from the fabulous Scott Paige and the Sand Bay Show Team and finally dancng to the small hours with guitar vocalist Johnathan Mark
