What a great weekend, apart from the weather of course which seemed to dampen the body a little but certainly not the spirits. The event kicked off on Friday afternoon with an Aperitif Tasting. 85 members enjoyed a presentation of four differing types of wine designed to stimulate the palate for food.
The main competition on Saturday morning attracted a few short of 2000 entries of wine cookery and art. With winners of each of the 66 classes taking magnificent trophies home to keep for the year.
The main gala dinner on Saturday evening was followed by a tasting of six after dinner wines for those wishing to take part. A delicious presentation of fortified muscat, sauternes and port wines supplied by Great Western Wines of Bath. Plus the return by popular request of The Four Just Men harmony singers in the main ballroom.
Sunday was almost as busy with the presentation of trophies in the morning, some time to enjoy the Keith Box Jazzband around lunch and a tasting of Belgian Abbey and Trappiste beers by Charles Hill NGWBJ in the afternoon. In the evening entertainment by comedian Steve Stephens, a fancy dress parade and the grand raffle
